About me

Hi, I’m Beca. A communications and marketing professional residing in Regina, Saskatchewan!

I currently work for the City of Regina as a Senior Communications Strategist where I handle the water, waste, environment, parking and licensing, and fire portfolios. My role includes collaborating closely with departments to provide strategic advice. I research, identify and advise on emerging communications issues and challenges and work with my clients to address them.

Previously, I worked for SaskEnergy as a Senior Communications Officer where I handled the media and government relations portfolio. I was responsible for writing news releases, media advisories, member statements, speeches for the CEO and Government officials, communications plans/strategies, social media copy, and briefing notes. I also responded to media inquiries, provided on-call support during emergencies, and did some graphic design assignments.

I also worked for the Government of Saskatchewan’s Ministry of Advanced Education as a Communications and Marketing Consultant. I wrote and edited news releases, internal articles, SEO-friendly web content, social media copy and speeches for government officials. I created a training manual and workshop for over 60 government communication consultants to learn photography and videography.

I attended the University of Regina’s School of Journalism where I learned how to Identify newsworthy events, pitch story ideas, film and edit video, record and edit audio and provide compelling coverage of anticipated and breaking news. While in school I completed an internship at paNOW in Prince Albert and helped produce two documentaries.

In addition to my communications and marketing experience, I have a vast background in customer service. I have experience hiring, training and managing a high performing team of customer service professionals, automating manual processes, documenting data-backed customer feedback and working with senior leaders to co-ordinate the delivery of exceptional customer service.

I’m constantly challenging the boundaries of my creativity!
